With over 20 years' experience working with older people from residential social worker, managing Care Homes to organising care in the community, Avis has unswerving passion to help improve the lives of people who are in need of extra support. Not only does she keep the wheels of our organisation turning, she is also a befriender and matches our volunteers with clients to ensure the perfect fit, allowing real friendships to develop.
Kate has spent a lifetime crunching the numbers and puts her wealth of experience to good use managing our budgets and expenses to ensure our numbers are always in the black! As a volunteer, Kate is a befriender whose weekly visits always involve a good chat, plenty of tea and of course a nice slice of cake.
With a career that spans the army, the post office and the police, Jean is perfect to manage our monthly communication with our volunteers. Jean has been a volunteer befriender for over 8 years, and she takes pleasure in hearing people's life stories, finding common grounds, and having a really good laugh.
Ann has been a Cornhill Companion befriender for four years. She says she really enjoys meeting interesting people and making new friends. She is a trained Move It Or Lose it Instructor so I'm sure she will put everyone through their paces.
Janet has many years secretarial and administrative experience in advertising, medicine and education. She is pleased to take on the role of Administrator
and assist Avis with the admin side of the Cornhill Companions.
Alison has been a RVS Volunteer for three years. She began Volunteering when she started working part time and wanted to become more involved in the Community. She now volunteers for Home Library Service, Volunteers Drivers Service, Talking Newspapers and if that wasn't enough, she has been the Group Coordinator for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Banbury and District Group for the past 10 years. She is also a Grandma to 6 . Where does she find the time. Alison will be volunteering with the Social Dining on a Tuesday.
